Location: Huawei Research Center, Amsterdam (flexible with international travel)

As such, we are seeking an exceptional leader with a profound understanding of technology research, akin to a PhD-level engineer, to drive this groundbreaking initiative forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pioneering Innovation: Lead the exploration and implementation of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in data management, analytics, and wireless solutions within the DWS domain. Your primary mandate will be to conceive and develop a game-changing new technology that will redefine industry standards.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the DWS team, guiding the creation of forward-thinking solutions aligned with business objectives and growth initiatives. Your vision and expertise in technology research will shape the trajectory of our innovation efforts as we strive to achieve unprecedented breakthroughs.
  • Architectural Design Excellence: Architect and design next-generation data warehouse infrastructure and wireless solutions, leveraging your deep understanding of technology research to integrate the new technology seamlessly into every aspect of our architecture.   • Research Collaboration: Collaborate closely with top researchers in the industrial and academic sectors, participating in cutting-edge research on issues in the database domain. Your role as a PhD-level engineer will position you as a key player in driving forward the understanding and application of our new technology through collaborative efforts.

Job Requirements:

  • Around 15 to 20 years of experience, including both academic and industrial experience, with a proven track record of technology research and innovation.
  • Background and working experience in the Data warehouse related field, preferably candidates already functioning as senior technical level in targeted companies, such as chief technical architect, senior research manager, CTO, or fellow level equivalent.
  • Strong R&D background and professional knowledge in databases, big data systems, distributed systems, and high-performance computing, with a particular emphasis on technology research and development.
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of cloud services and DevOps, with a focus on leveraging these platforms for the advancement and deployment of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Clear working ideas, excellent communication skills, technical learning skills, good coding habits, strong self-study ability, and a desire for self-improvement, with a keen awareness of the rigorous demands of technology research and development.

Strong Kernel background is required: 

  • Understanding System Operations: The kernel is responsible for managing the underlying resources of a computer system. A deep understanding of kernel architecture and operations enables professionals to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues effectively, and develop efficient software solutions that interact with the underlying hardware. 
  • Operating System Development: Professionals with a strong kernel background are well-equipped to contribute to the development or customization of operating systems. This could involve modifying existing kernels, developing new features, or creating specialized kernels for specific purposes such as real-time systems or embedded devices. 
  • Device Driver Development: Device drivers are software components that enable communication between hardware devices and the operating system. Knowledge of kernel internals is essential for developing and maintaining device drivers, ensuring compatibility with different hardware configurations and supporting new hardware technologies. 
  • Security: The kernel plays a crucial role in enforcing security policies and protecting system resources from unauthorized access or malicious activities. Professionals with expertise in kernel security can contribute to the design and implementation of security features, vulnerability assessments, and mitigation strategies to enhance the overall security posture of a system. 
  • Performance Optimization: Understanding how the kernel manages system resources allows professionals to identify bottlenecks, optimize system performance, and implement techniques such as kernel tuning, memory management optimizations, and scheduling algorithms to improve overall system responsiveness and efficiency.
